Temple Israel is dedicated to bringing the traditional values of the Conservative movement as the anchor and harbor to Jewish family and single life with the growing Charlotte community.
Our over 800-member congregation, affiliated with United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1995, and is the oldest and one of the most vibrant Jewish institutions in the Carolinas, We bring you the heart of Jewish culture, education and religion, through workshop, study, celebration, and the promotion of individual and family well-being through Judaism. Youth activities for boys and girls are: Jr. Kadima, grades 4-5; Kadima, grades 6-8; USY, grades 9-12. Groups have varied activities including conventions throughout the year. The Temple also sponsors a Preschool (See Charlotte Jewish Preschool), a Social Club, a Young Couples Club and a 30s & 40s Social Group. These programs are open to the community. The Sisterhood meets on the second Wednesday of each month, and operates a Judaica Gift Shop, which has regular hours and /or by appointment.
We are friendly oriented, hands-on, welcoming and participatory. Our entire staff welcomes your calls concerning worship schedules, the after school religious program or any other program offered by the synagogue.
