Job Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Development and Marketing Officer, the Communications Specialist will be a central member of the Marketing team. This position plays an integral role in the organization’s strategic communications, targeting audiences of all demographics to increase awareness and engagement. The Communications Specialist must be able to meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure. They must be able to perform accurate research and write compelling copy.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Writes clear, compelling copy for various mediums (flyers, web, e-news, press releases, social media) to inform and engage target audiences.
- Conducts research on assigned topics.
- Interviews individuals relevant to the article.
- Attends meetings to learn beyond the interview.
- Proofreads and edits content provided by other staff.
- Participates in development of communication and marketing plans and strategies.
- Social media content planning, creation, publication.
- Assists with creation of all marketing collateral.
- Plans, composes, formats and distributes electronic newsletters and communications.
- Manages website content, ensuring it is current, accurate and uses SEO to maximize reach.
- Maintains marketing calendar to plan and coordinate publication of communications across channels.
- Collaborates with staff on messaging about programs and services.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field
Required Work Experience:
Minimum of two years’ work experience required.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Superior skills in copywriting and editing for various mediums.
- Expertise in social media, email marketing, and SEO best practices.
- Proficiency with html and analytics platforms.
- Highly proficient computer and technology skills with hands-on capability in all social media platforms, email marketing platforms, Microsoft Office products, Teams, Zoom, Canva.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills; ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to identify challenges and propose solutions.
- Demonstrated capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Preference will be given to candidates with deep knowledge of Judaism, Jewish culture and traditions, and a personal commitment to Jewish values.
- While knowledge about the Jewish Federation is desirable, it is not a pre-requisite for this position.
Other Job Related Requirements:
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
- This position must be based in the greater Charlotte area.
