In this four-part series we will explore not only the tractate of Mishnah called Pirkei Avot or Ethics of Our Ancestors, but also the context in which the text was written, the challenges facing our founding thinkers in the 1st and 2nd century C.E., and what wisdom we can glean from them for us today. In each session we will look at texts from Pirkei Avot and explore both classic and modern commentaries. All Pirkei Avot texts will be provided in both Hebrew and in English so we can unpack some of the wisdom stored within the Hebrew language itself.
