Our Shabbat Evening Service will feature our 2022 Israel Scholar-in-Residence, Dr. Ken Stein. In the first of three presentations over the course of the weekend, Dr. Stein will speak during services on, “The US-Israeli Relationship: From Truman to Trump: Changing Domestic and Regional Realities.” A Question-and-Answer session will follow the service during our Shabbat Oneg. Everyone attending is required to follow Temple Beth El's COVID-19 Policies.

Dr. Kenneth Stein has been a professor of Middle Eastern History, Political Science and Israel Studies at Emory University since 1977. He received his advanced degrees at the University of Michigan and also did graduate work at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Stein’s academic career has focused on Israeli history, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the modern Arab world. Stein has earned international recognition for his intellectual integrity, scholarship, excellence in teaching, and life-long mentorship of students.

Stein is a public intellectual providing insights to hundreds of Jewish and non-Jewish audiences and media outlets across the world. Stein is the Founding Director of the Emory Institute for the Study of Modern Israel (1998), the first such center for the study of Israel Studies on a U.S. college campus. He is also the Founding President of the Center for Israel Education (2008), an organization that has enriched Israel education at all levels, including Temple Beth El’s own Religious School. Many members of our faculty have participated in CIE’s annual conferences for educators.
