On Erev Yom HaShoah, we gather in sacred remembrance — to honor the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and the countless lives and communities destroyed by hatred. This year, our observance will center on a brief but deeply meaningful musical program led by Cantor Danielle Rodnizki and Cantor Shira Lissek, featuring music connected directly to the Holocaust era and its legacy.
Through songs written or sung in ghettos and camps, music preserved by survivors, and compositions created in response to the Shoah, we will encounter the voices of Jewish history in one of the ways they most powerfully endured — through music. Throughout the program, Cantors Rodnizki and Lissek will offer historical context, helping us understand when and where this music was sung, who carried it forward, and why it continues to matter.
Jewish tradition teaches zachor — remember. In lifting these melodies, we honor not only those who were lost, but also the resilience of the Jewish spirit and our sacred responsibility to bear witness.
All are welcome to join us as we gather in community, memory, and song.
